Every week we are joined by both local and wider community. We always welcome help, input and ideas to grow food, create enterprise and support one another. Whilst volunteering, or gifting, is strongly valued and welcome, we do also like the idea of supporting Community Builders, who give support and help to our community but in return we can offer help in their own gardens, produce from ours, a bike from our bike library or honey from our bees. In this way our Community Builders become Project members, a movement of people committed to creating authentic change where its needed the most - in community.
Maybe you would like to be a Community Builder? These are our current needs:
We always welcome those wishing to tend the garden - at almost an acre of cultivation and food forest, there is never any shortage of work - or learning. We have a Sat morning session from 10 until noon but there are times available outside of this - please just get in touch.
Join the Koha Kitchen Crew
Come cook with us alongside families, children and visitors as we take the abundance of our local food network and turn it into beautiful meals for local children. Helpers in the kitchen get to take meals away for themselves. We welcome both experienced and non experienced cooks - its the sharing that matters!
Artists, Crafters and Makers - Come co-create with us!
We dedicate Friday mornings to making a really big mess in our workroom - whether it be painting, sewing, designing or simply drinking coffee and having a laugh. A great time to pop by and say hi, but we are also very keen for you to bring ideas and skills for us to learn - together.
Hobbit House/Book Depository Monitor
Possibly the coolest job ever - collecting up donated books and stocking the shelves of the Hobbit House so that its full of free reading material for the community. Plenty of scope also for story telling and art events.
Hive Builders and Painters
Our Beeple Honey Collective is often needing support with getting boxes built and painted. We have regular build days which are great fun. Having some basic carpentry skills is needed as our boxes need to be very precise for our bees to be happy - but anyone is welcome to come roll some paint!
Professional Skills needed to help us Grow
As we realise our vision of taking our Project out across the region and Aotearoa, we are needing the help of the following:
- Marketing/Campaign Designer
- Software Developer for the Beeple Collective
- Engineer - builder of clever off grid solutions.
