Food Hub Manager
A very special role working alongside a dedicated team of humans creating a food hub to increase food resilience and education in the Hutt Valley.
The Food Hub Manager will manage and oversee the daily operations of our Urban Kai Network, Common Grocer food cooperative, our community kitchen and the café (collectively known as the Food Hub).
You must have experience in cooking and catering, in particular wholefoods, plant-based protein meals and seasonal food.
An in-depth understanding of developing and managing Food Safety Plans.
Forecasting, managing and reporting against a budget.
You must have exceptional people skills and be a team player.
You will have worked with volunteers and community from differing backgrounds.
You are self-motivated, organised, reliable with a flair for problem solving.
You delight in teaching and sharing with others and demonstrate leadership.

Urban Farmer
This is a new role, developing a new large urban vegetable farm in the Hutt Valley as we work towards strengthening resilience and local food production.
The purpose of the role is to be hands on, growing organic vegetables, making compost, implementing a CSA vege box scheme, and maintaining best practices using regenerative farming methods. The role will also involve running weekly educational sessions for members and volunteers and supporting the wider Urban Kai farming team.
You must have experience in growing in large-scale plots (larger than your average backyard garden). Please have a look at our Urban Kai Project.
