- Suitable for beginners who have used a sewing machine before
- 2 hours
- Bring your own materials or use our koha fabrics*
We are bringing old school style back with these awesome drawstring bags. In this fun and friendly workshop, you will learn how to sew a drawstring bag from two pieces of fabric. You’ll use basic straight stitches and one fancy (sounding) seam. You can choose to add straps to make a back-pack or keep it as a drawstring bag.
Take home a new bag and the inspiration to make more.
What you need
Buy new, bring fabric to re-purpose, or use our koha fabrics*. Whatever you choose, this is what you need:
- 1/2 metre of medium weight fabric.
- Cotton matched to your fabric.
- 1.6 metres of cord (used for the straps/drawstring).
Materials you could re-purpose
Try old curtains, mid-weight duvet covers or tea towels. If you have time, browse your local second-hand shop, they often have fabric bundles for sale.
*Koha fabrics
We have a range of fabrics and cottons available for you to use. It's ready and waiting for new life! Hand-picked for your workshop, it will available on the day for koha/donation (suggested $2-$5).
