The Remakery Spring Fair Recap

Auē, what a day our Spring Fair was! Thank you to everyone who came and supported our mahi, koia kei a koutou!

We’d like to acknowledge all of the amazing volunteers who shared their time with us a couple of weeks ago to support Common Unity with our annual spring fair, this day would not have been possible without you! Tēnei te mihi ki a koutou!

We are so grateful to have had the support of Ange Holtslag to coordinate the event, Ange shared much of her time in the leadup to the event by attending planning meetings, and organising bits and bobs here and there. On the day, Ange made sure everything was running smoothly. Thanks heaps Ange!

One of the highlights of our Spring Fair was our musicians, thanks to Lake South from Home Alone Music for approaching us to have musicians play at the Remakery. Mat from Live Culture also came through to support us with audio and stage equipment. We were blessed to have so much talent shared with our community, thanks to Grawlixes, Harlem in tha House, Araiyah Moana and National Sensation! You folks were amazing—he korokoro tūī ki a koutou!

Our café was incredibly busy and we thank everyone for their patience as our team worked hard to make sure everyone was served. The Remakery Kitchen were stoked to be able to serve kai from their window and we hope everyone enjoyed either the Smashed Crispy Potatoes or Veggie Tacos! Our Urban Kai Farms team put in an immense amount of work weeks prior to the spring fair—sowing seeds, pricking out, and nurturing little plant babies ready for sale. Likewise, the Sew Good team put in lots of hours in the sewing studio creating gorgeous sewn goods. Beeple Beekeeper, Al, was buzzing around the long langstroth beehive, chatting with curious attendees about all things bees, meanwhile inside, the Grocer team were offering honey taste testing and showcasing all the Grocer has to offer.

There was so much cuteness at the face painting and sunflower stall, thanks to Head Farmer Lani and Gordon for potting up sunflower seedlings and painting flowers and dragons for the tamariki. Speaking of painting, Talented artist, Jago, joined us for a live mural painting. It was awesome to watch the creation come to life. Ka rawe!

Many people contributed towards The Spring Fair, it’s amazing what we can achieve when we work together. Thank you everyone for your mahi & aroha!

We hope you enjoyed our event! Now, time to start preparing for The Remakery Spring Fair 2023 😜
