Update on 310 Waiwhetū Road: The ReMakery - 9 April 2026

At Common Unity, our work over the last 10 years has always been shaped by our grassroots kaupapa, ensuring that our community is connected and empowered. We’re grateful for your support and want to keep you informed about a change ahead for The ReMakery.

The lease for our space at 308 - 310 Waiwhetu Road is coming to an end, and the property is going on the market.

Should we need to move after the building is sold, we have secured another space just down the road in Epuni where we can continue our mahi. We will retain all our offsite māra kai, so none of our growing will be affected.

We have been working with Kāinga Ora, who own the building, and Hutt City Council to explore the possibility of redeveloping the site at 308 - 310 Waiwhetu Road with a permanent home for Common Unity. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of all partners, this has not been achievable, and Kāinga Ora will now proceed with selling the property. We will continue to work with Kāinga Ora and Hutt City Council to ensure a smooth transition.

Throughout this period, we remain fully committed to our people, our programmes, and our community, and we’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more to share. Should we have to move, there will be a short close-down period while we organise ourselves at our new location, and then we will be back to our regular programming: empowering and connecting our community through sustainability, creativity and kai.

Thank you for your patience and ongoing support. We look forward to keeping you with us on this journey as we shape the next chapter of The ReMakery.
